GENERAL RULES

Remove all plastic, glass, and cast iron.

NO zero turn or mid/rear engine lawn mower.

Any extra modifications or bending of rules will get you loaded or disqualified.

NO lawn tractors of any kind. (The mower with front and rear attachment points)

If the gas tank is under the seat, it must be relocated to a safe location. Fuel tanks and lines must be secure and cannot leak.

The mower deck and accessories must be removed prior to race inspection.

Any modifications made must be within the limits or specifications of the rules stated below.

If gas tank is in between your legs it must be securely attached and covered.

Electric start is preferred pull start is allowed but you must remain on mower to start it.

Every driver will have 30 seconds to make a hit, or driver will be counted out.

 

GENERAL MODIFICATIONS

All cages must be secure and safe. Hoods must be removed or open for inspection.

Rear end must be stock appearing. Can swap from center to side shift. Cable shifters are allowed.

Any lawnmower motor allowed, 20hp max.

Governor bypass or a pull string allowed.

Must have stock axle shafts, no axle protectors or rear end bracing of any kind.

Must be E clip or single bolt application.

Gear up kits are not allowed. Pully swapping is allowed and encouraged. Keep in mind when pulley swapping, this is a derby not a drag race. If the speed looks too fast, speed restrictions may be applied.

Must be belt driven. No chain or shaft driven rear ends.

Hoods may be secured in no more than 4 places.

Hood must remain in factory location, no shimming hood away from dash. Can change to a steel or aluminum faced hood. Hood seams can have three 2” welds, or three 3/4 washer on seams to hold together.

 

TIRES AND WHEELS

Any style tire is allowed, EX: AG, ATV, TURF, or RIB type.

Tires can be stuffed/doubled and/or tubed. Foam filled is allowed.

Homemade wheels are allowed.

No bead locks or valve stem protectors.

Weld-in centers are ok. Stock thickness only.

 

BUMPERS AND BRACKETS

Bumpers must remain flat. No points.

No bigger than 3×3 tubing or 3.5 inch OD pipe.

Bumpers can be loaded, or stuffed, can have end caps.

Brackets can be flat plate or angle iron.

Bumper extension brackets will be 6” on 6” off the frame rail. This counts for rear bumper as well.

Brackets can be welded or bolted to the frame. Brackets must remain on the outside of frame no bigger than 2 inches wide, no thicker than ¼ -inch material.

Bumpers can’t be more than 4” wider than frame.

 

CAGES

All lawnmowers must have a cage that is safe and securely mounted.

Cages ARE NOT ALLOWED to reinforce the body or frame in any way.

Cages may not pass the engine crankshaft on the mower.

Cages are to protect the legs and feet. Cage cannot sit higher than the seat.

Side rails can be attached to the seat bar or frame. Rails cannot be further than 1” outside the factory steps.

Can have 2 bars connecting the leg bars and the driver’s department, to keep side rails from squeezing in, must only attach to leg bars.

Cages cannot cover or protect tire in any way.

Cages can have outer skin to cover the cage to display driver number, outer skin cannot be thicker than 1/8 inch thick plating.

Cages can have 2 down tubes that attach to the frame, but cannot pass the crank. Do NOT attach to a repair plate. Must have 1” gape in between welds.

Seat bars are required to protect the seat and/or driver. May NOT exceed 15” wide OR be taller than the driver’s shoulders. Must at least be level with top of seat. This is for your protection.

 

PLATES AND MISCELLANEOUS

No plates on a fresh mower.

Plate material cannot exceed 2x4x1/8.

Max of 2 plates or 1 plate per frame rail. Must have 1” between welds.

Plates must be justified. No layering of plates.

Headers or after-market exhaust is allowed and encouraged.

Valve cover/spark plug protectors are allowed but cannot exceed width of motor no thicker than 1/8 material can be up to 8” tall.

Clutch/brake must work.

Must have working brakes.

Battery cage is allowed.  If battery is under seat, cannot strengthen lower body. This replaces the factory hanging battery holder. No thicker than 1/8” material.
