WANTED : Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the operations, programs, and activities of the chamber, as well as representing the interests of businesses in the community. This is a leadership role that requires excellent communication, organizational, and networking skills. Hours & Pay: The current salary is $20Hr working up to 32 Hours Per week . We will offer Flex Time as a benefit as well . Daily Duties Include: Managing and Operating the Visitor Center / Chamber Office. This includes welcoming visitors and providing them with the latest information that they are seeking for including what our organization can do for them. Management for events, marketing efforts, and supervision/coordination of the volunteers that accompany these items. Daily website and social media networking updates and announcements in addition to gathering information to send out in a weekly e-blast to our members. During business hours, the Executive Director is expected to attend to members’ requests and direct questions and concerns from the community to the responsible party to the best of their ability. During business hours the Executive Director is expected to ensure the office and visitor center is clean and supplies to it and the fairground buildings are maintained on a regular basis. Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to promote the growth and success of local businesses and the community. 2. Membership Management: Recruit and retain chamber members by providing valuable services and benefits, organizing networking events, and fostering a sense of community among members. Schedule and promote monthly luncheons including recruiting host and sponsors as well as speakers if needed. Schedule weekly member visits on location as well as recruiting in person. 3. Advocacy: Serve as a voice for local businesses by advocating for their interests at the local, state, and national levels. Manage the stocking and distribution of local tourism material as well as member information. 4. Financial Management: Develop and manage the chamber’s budget, including fundraising, sponsorship opportunities, and grant applications for board approval. Collect & deposit payments for membership, sponsorships and building rental fees. Create and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure proper checks and balances as well as prepare any tax obligations. 5. Event Planning: Coordinate and oversee various events, such as business expos, workshops, and networking functions, annual fair, and demolition derby, to promote business development and community engagement. 6. Public Relations: Represent the chamber in public forums, engage with local media, and build relationships with key stakeholders. Promote and recruit for Grand Openings, luncheons, and ribbon cuttings. Prepare, edit, and submit advertising and press releases for chamber events and functions/announcements. 7. Collaboration: Foster collaboration among businesses, government entities, educational institutions, and community organizations to promote economic growth and development. 8. With guidance from the Board of Directors, the Director will be responsible for hiring, scheduling and supervision of any office personnel / volunteers along with assigning their duties and responsibilities while overseeing their work. Assist and work closely with the Board President to properly prepare for each board meeting and event. Qualifications: – Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field – Proven experience of at least 2 years in chamber of commerce management or similar leadership roles – Strong business acumen and knowledge of economic development strategies – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – Proven Event & Fundraising Planning/Implementation Skills – Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders – Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team -Politically able to tactfully work with differing opinions -Proficient Problem-Solving Skills with little to no supervision Skills: -Able to use Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note and Publisher. -Proficient Computer and Ofiice Technology including fax machines, credit card processors, printers, labelers, and laminators.
